The Walk in Action...

Last night Jake started to take more and more steps! Of course it helps when he is walking towards his beloved cousin and aunt!! We were all really excited.

Day home

Jake started attending Peek-a-boo day home in June when I went back to work after my maternity leave - he goes 4 days a week. Although I was so sad putting him in daycare I decided that I had the choice to make it a positive or negative experience for both of us - so I chose to stay as positive as possible (after many tears and sleepless nights of course - my anxiety always seems to get the best of me)! The day home is run by a mom and dad and Jake has seemed to transition reasonably well. He still cries when we drop him off but by the time we leave the house he has stopped. His day is filled with playing with other kids (total of 8), having story and music time, playing outside, doing crafts and having fun. Overall we are happy with this experience. Below are a couple pics that the day home sent us - check out the crazy hair in the first one!

And then there were steps...

Last Saturday Chris, Jake and I went to my work BBQ at my boss' house. It was there where Jake took "his first step"! I kept asking Chris if it "really" was his first step - I think I was expecting something more - I guess it's unrealistic to think he would just get up and just start walking everywhere one day. We were thankful we were both there to witness it - so exciting for us! Since then he's taken a few more steps here and there but still prefers the crawl.

Walk around the block

With Chris home in the evenings we have been enjoying "family time" each night. It has been a good change for us as Chris has worked evenings since we've been married. Last night we took Jake around the neighborhood with his firetruck so he could walk with us! He loved it so much (way more room to walk than in our house) and was not happy when we had to go home.

First Family Bike Ride

Tonight we went for our first family bike ride. We've had the chariot stroller since April and so far I've only used it for jogging. Last week Chris went and picked up the bike attachment for the stroller, bought Jake a helmet, fixed up our bikes, and off we went! Jake did pretty well although we figured out he doesn't like going over bumps on the road :-)

We took turns pulling Jake - just so we both got a good workout :-)

Jake brought one of his favorite stuffed animals "Buddy" along for the ride

Ontario visit!

Jake's daycare was closed for a week so it gave us the opportunity to fly home to Ontario to see our families! It was a busy trip with two families to visit. Jake had "mommyitis" for the first few days but slowly got comfortable with others (he's a momma's boy). We had lots of fun in the pool ( more or less a hot tub) and Jake had so much room to play and explore! Over the week Jake started to climb, stand on his own for a couple seconds and speak Hebrew (or what sounds like Hebrew). It was a treat to visit with immediate and extended family. The trip was perfect - the only thing I would change is the fact that Jake slept horribly! Sorry Nonna and Grumpa :-)

Dad's new camera

Here are a few photos of Jake (14 months) that my dad took with his new camera! What fun. More pictures of our trip home to Ontario to come...
