Calgary Corn Maze

The weather in Calgary the past few weeks have been amazing! We were +30 most of this week. Today was a perfect fall day - 22 degrees and blue sky. Chris, Jake, Chloe and I headed south to the Calgary Corn Maze! What a fun day. We played in the hay, went through the corn maze and didn't even get lost (thanks to Chloe's great directions), petted the animals, played on the play ground, and watched a pig race! We'll definitely go back next year.

Driving

One night last week Chris and I arrived home from work at the same time - we went to go say hi and Jake wanted to check out Daddy's new car! Chris couldn't have been happier (it's the car lover in him) - and Jake was quite proud of himself playing with the steering wheel :-)

Hugs!

Since birth Jake has been a "cuddly baby". He loves snuggles and hugs. I savor each embrace as I know there will come a day where he won't always want to have cuddles with his mom!

A couple weeks ago after his swimming lesson, he gave his friend Roisin a big hug. He was so proud of himself! He clapped and went in for another hug. This was the first time we have seen him cuddle another babe his age. Just this past weekend he was walking all around the mall, going up to other babies his age and hugging them, and was so happy after each embrace. It melts my heart!

If you are having a bad day and need a cuddle - just come on over!

Elbow Falls

My good friend Julianne and her hubby Joel came out for a weekend visit! We had nice trip to Kananaskis (Alberta country) for a picnic, walk around Elbow Falls, and ice cream. Jake had a great day! He especially loved practicing his walk on the big rocks with his Dad.

Fun with Auntie!

I had my first night away from Jake! Chris and I headed off to the mountains for a night get-a-way as we were celebrating our 6th year anniversary and Chris' new job. My sis took care of Jake at our place - the following is written by her:

I was very excited to have my first sleepover with my nephew. We had a great time together, playing reading books being silly and taking lots of pictures.

Things I learned about Jake:
- He is very smart
- He is an excellent listener
- He can say three word sentences (at least it sounds like he can!)
- He has a great sense of humor

The second day I was with Jake I took him to visit my best friend Lou. Jake was a little shy at first, but then was happy and could say "hi lou". He was very well behaved and had a fun time.

I look forward to many many more sleepovers. I also am excited to watch Jake develop grow into a little man. I must admit I missed him a lot when our time was over.
He sure is a joy!! I couldn't be more proud or in love! I hope he knows he can always count on Aunt Shelly! :) Here are a couple pics from our time together.

The "whole banana"!

When we were visiting Auntie Katie she gave Jake the whole banana for the first time - check out the big bite he took! He loved every minute :-)

More of the walk

This post of for those of you who are excited about Jake walking (aka Uncle Jon and Aunt Shelly). He's getting better each day! In this video he's a little cranky as it was almost bedtime but you can see he's taking more steps. He had a 15 months check-up yesterday and he weighed 21lb 5oz and is almost on the 10th percentile on the growth chart - a good improvement.
